ARTiquities

“ARTiquities” Working with heavy gel mediums and distressed substrates, Chuck has been developing a new dimensional series he calls “ARTiquities”. These nouveau fresco oils pay homage to the classic sculptural style of Renaissance Italian and French Masters like Bernini, Donatelo, Parmigianino and Carpot. It is Chuck’s objective to bring color and richness to the figurative poetry and anatomical flow of the classic style of these Masters.

New Marcus Majestic Brookfield Features Weber Murals

The new Marcus Majestic Cinema, located off I-94 at Springdale Road in Brookfield is now open, and features 5 murals by Chuck Weber. Grand Opening Ceremonies were held May 2. The new 88,000 sq. ft. luxury megaplex is the largest theatre complex in the Midwest, and includes 16 screens, two 72 foot Ultrascreens, two cafes, a cocktail lounge and cabaret-style live stage and entertainment venue; and features 5 separate Weber murals totaling over 110 feet.

The neo-art deco murals were created by Chuck at 20% scale, then reproduced on canvas at full size, and surround the showcase art deco lobby, complete with grand piano. Created in a style reminiscent of period artist Russell Patterson, Chuck’s goal was to echo the “Golden Age” signature Marcus architectural design and interiors with period, narrative panels done in the “High Society” Deco style of New York in the late 1930’s. So stop in, catch a movie, grab a cocktail and scope out his work.

"PLEIN AIR AWARDS" . . . This summer Chuck tried something new, participating in both the Cedarburg Plein Air Festival, and the Waukesha "Wet Paint" Plein Air Festival. "Plein Air" is a French expression for "painting in the open air," and involves painting scenic and historical subjects or landscapes on-site, "live." His paintings were honored with awards in both events, including the Grand Prize in the Waukesha Wet Paint Competition.

Chuck accepts 1st Place Honors in the Waukesha Wet Paint Competition for his painting "Amber Dawn," from Waukesha Mayor Larry Nelson. Behind them are Chuck’s two entries in the competition, "Amber Dawn" and "The Springhouse."
"NATIONAL HONORS"
Chuck is also extremely pleased to announce that two of his works have recently been honored nationally. "Sunday Match," one of his new alla prima oils, and his painting "Milwaukee River Challenge" have both been named Finalists in the 23rd Annual Artist’s Magazine 2006 National Art Competition, one of America’s most prestigious fine art competitions.

Favre Foundation Benefit Portrait Painting Surrounded by Media and fund-raiser guests, Chuck works on-stage to complete the Favres Portrait in time for the Auction.

FAVRE FOUNDATION BENEFIT . . . It was a great honor for Chuck to be able to paint a live portrait of Brett and Deanna Favre on March 12, 2005. The occasion was a Celebrity Fund Faiser sponsored by the Favre Fourward Foundation at the Grand Casino and Theater in Biloxi, Miss. to benefit Breast Cancer Treatment. As most people know, Deanna was diagnosed with the disease this past fall, and is currently undergoing radiation treatments. The portrait of Brett and Deanna was painted "alla prima" (live) on stage the day of the event, and was one of six items auctioned off that evening as part of a gala Banquet and Auction that culminated in a spectacular concert by Faith Hill. The $500 a plate event raised more than $500,000, with all proceeds going to two area hospitals.

Working mostly from Favre family photos, Chuck started the painting about 9 am, and finished just moments before it was auctioned off at 7:20 pm that evening. The high bidder at the auction was the Favre's agent and attorney, "Bus" Cook, who outbid Deanna, paying $6000. He then gave the portrait to the Favres.

In addition to the Favre family, Chuck also had a chance to meet Faith Hill. The afternoon of the event, while Chuck painted on stage, he was the beneficiary of a "Bonus" concert, as Faith Hill and her band rehearsed and did sound checks! She is an amazing talent! Following the event, Chuck and his wife JoAnne spent the next 4 days enjoying the warm weather, the southern hospitality, and sightseeing in New Orleans.

Thank you to the Favres and the Favre Fourward Foundation for allowing Chuck to be part of this important event. And congratulations on raising more than $500,000!

"GOOD MEDICINE" . . . Chuck will again be painting at the Annual Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation Golf Outing June 6, at Western Lakes Golf Course, Waukesha, WI. Starting at 10 am the day of the outing, Chuck will set up his "studio" in the clubhouse and begin a new "Legends of Golf" painting, to be completed by 6pm that afternoon. The alla prima original is then donated and auctioned off that night following dinner, with all proceeds going to the Foundation.

Two years ago, "Arnie: Then & Now" was auctioned off for $4600. Later a print of the original was signed by Mr. Palmer, and donated to last year’s Auction, where another $2600. was earned!

This past year Chuck created a triple painting of the legendary Payne Stewart. At that evening’s Auction, bidding for the original grew to a whopping $8000, setting a record, with all proceeds going to this very worthwhile cause. Check it out at brpf.org.

This past fall Chuck completed an oil portrait of Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan. The portrait, commissioned by the Dick Richards family, was unveiled and given to the Archbishop as a gift at ceremonies this past November. CHASE WEB

Coquette

So who is a "Chase Web?" Click on the CHASE WEB button to find Chuck's new "altered ego" paintings. Done in a Fauve-Expressionist style, these new paintings pay homage to the style of early 20th century Cubist/Expressionists like Amidei Modigliani. Done in a more stylized, graphic manner, they are painted with a more limited palette and capture lighter, romanticized subjects. The first Chase Webs have been extremely popular, with originals selling quickly. Canvas Giclee Reproductions are now available for most pieces, and new works are now available.

CANVAS "GICLEE" PRINTS

Chuck's reproductions are all produced in an exciting new process that is superior to traditional lithographic prints in both color reproduction and durability. These new Canvas Giclees (pronounced gee-clays) use dye-sublimation (permanent) technology; 6-Colors and archival (non-fading) inks. This is a long-winded way of saying they are the BEST . . . museum-quality and guaranteed true to the original, with all the color saturation and energy that Chuck's paintings are noted for. Each "Edition" is individually color-corrected and proofed by the artist; then reproduced on acid-free, 100% cotton gessoed canvas. The final reproductions may be available matted and shrink-wrapped, or, as many people prefer today, stretched and framed directly without mat or glass.

CHANNEL 10/36 FEATURED ARTIST

Chuck was very pleased to have participated as Century Collection Featured Artist for Channel 10/36 Friends Great TV Auction. His original work; "Milwaukee Riverwalk" was created specifically for the Auction, and together with 100 signed and numbered reproductions generated over $25,000 in proceeds for Milwaukee's Public Television Network. The works generated more in revenue than any other featured artist's work in the station's history.

International Artist Cover

NEW HONORS

Chuck was pleased to be featured on the cover of INTERNATIONAL ARTIST magazine for their June/July 2003 issue. There is also a terrific article on Chuck and his painting "Nagawicka Tack," which was awarded the Grand Prize and $2000 in their challenge competition on "Water."

BURK MEMORIAL AWARD

Chuck was again named state finalist at the Wisconsin Regional Artists Program Competition, sponsored by the Wisconsin Arts Board, and the University of Wisconsin. Last year he received the WCAL Award and People's Choice Award. At last year's State Exhibit his original "Milwaukee River Challenge" was named Best of Show and the recipient of the Joseph E. Burk Memorial Award.
